ACCREDITATION DURATION

The award will be determined by the American Association of Continuing Medical Education®/Accreditation Review Committee. The duration of the accreditation award is one, two, three, or six years, for qualified providers.

1 YEAR ACCREDITATION – Standard Period of Accreditation Length

A rating indicating basic compliance across within the American Association of Continuing Medical Education® standards. Deficiencies however, exist relative to the standards that may affect the delivery of continuing medical education programs and services. These deficiencies must be remedied in order that the agency may be considered for a longer accreditation period on a subsequent survey. Most organizations applying for the American Association of Continuing Medical Education® accreditation to become accredited providers are normally considered for this category, unless the organization had established history of successful continuing medical education programs, with verifiable and supportive documents that the Accreditation Review Committee (ARC) may demand and find sufficient to grant a higher Length of Award.

2 YEAR ACCREDITATION

A rating indicating fundamental compliance across within American Association of Continuing Medical Education® standards. Deficiencies however, exist relative to the standards that may affect the delivery of continuing medical education programs and services. These deficiencies must be remedied in order that the agency may be considered for a longer accreditation period on a subsequent survey.

3 YEAR ACCREDITATION

A rating indicating substantial compliance across and within the American Association of Continuing Medical Education® standards. Some weaknesses exist relative to the standards but do not affect the delivery of continuing medical education programs and services. These weaknesses should be addressed in order that the agency may be considered for a longer accreditation period on a subsequent survey.

6 YEAR ACCREDITATION

A rating indicating optimal compliance across and within the American Association of Continuing Medical Education® standards. This rating demonstrates overall excellence in the delivery of continuing medical education program activities, including enduring materials and the agency is recognized to be performing in an exemplary way.
